Yuletide 2025 Letter (AO3 username: SirenOfTitan)

Thanks so much for writing for me! Sorry this took a while for me to update - it's been a very busy week for me! But here you finally are. I will go by fandom in the order they are listed in my sign-up.

Previous Yuletide letters:

Please use the 2024 letter, along with the sign-up, for general details about what I like and dislike. There are also some important feelings about how I feel about broader questions like dubcon (in terms of my rape/non-con DNW), my standards for historical accuracy with historical fandoms, and so on.

All but two of my fandoms from my sign-up are listed in one of those letters. Here are some additional details on characters that I did not include in the previous sign-ups -

A Dangerous Man: Lawrence After Arabia (1990)

Nothing really to add here, everything that I put in my 2023 Yuletide letter for this fandom applies here as well!

Wayfarers Series - Becky Chambers

Since I signed up for Wayfarers the previous time, I have also read books 2 and 4! I was really fascinated by Roveg in the fourth book - his complicated, fraught history as an exile from his homeland, and where he goes from the end of that book. While I would also love Rosemary/Sissix romance or smut, or general worldbuilding, I'm also very interested in what you do with him here! It could be romance, could be friendship, could be innovating new art as an exile, could be none of the above...but I want a general focus on him moving forward and finding a new niche for himself.

The Wire (TV 2002)

In this version of things, in addition to Omar and Mouzone, I also requested Avon Barksdale and Stringer Bell, wanting a story about them together if you choose them. Basically, I ship it and think more work exploring what would happen if there were a sexual/romantic tinge to their frenemies (or friends to enemies, rather) relationship would be fascinating. Have they been messing around since adolescence? Is it a more recent thing? How does the turn against each other affect that? Does it make that turn all the more bitter? What kind of feelings are there - is it purely sexual, is it one-sided romance? How is this complicated by the aggressive homophobia they clearly buy into? Go to town with all the messy possibilities! Absolutely does not have to have a happy ending (just like in canon, lol) - I want mess!!!

Also a clarification that in my sign-up, I said I didn't want canonical character deaths. That's mostly with regard to Omar's death, but I'm fine with exploring Stringer's so you can disregard that (if you're allowed to do that. If not, just explore it up to that point. I would prefer not to give him a different ending, though).

New fandoms!

The Gilded Age (TV 2022)

Canon is a 3-season period live-action TV series produced by HBO (and airing there in the USA), focusing on various characters - both wholly fictional and based on real people - living in the 1880s in New York City.

You can see my Just Married 2025 letter for details on what I want with this fandom. However, that sign-up largely focused on Larry/Marian and I also requested Peggy and Oscar, so here are some more details on what I'd like with them!

Peggy/Marian - I think this is an interesting, underappreciated ship, given how close they are to each other. What if, even while they advise and support each other in their relationships with men, they're also exploring their sexuality with each other? What do they make of that? What kinds of feelings are there, or are there not? How is the racial divide of 1880s New York complicating this relationship? What degree of awareness of what this is vs. deeply internalized homophobia comes into play here? Do they see it as "practice," "not real sex," etc. or something real, that nevertheless has to go by the wayside for their hetero relationships? (I don't really want an ending with this where they don't end up with their canon male love interests, as I like those too, but I think it's interesting as something going on at the same time as that. Or, alternately, maybe they get back together much later in life, widowed, or something like that.)

Peggy/Kirkland - I thought their relationship was really cute and their getting-together at the end of s3 was swoonily romantic. So just...go forward from there! Explore what their life looks like after this point, and how they deal with the reactions of everyone around them!

Oscar - I'd love to read about anything relating to his sexuality: how he figured it out, his first fumblings, maybe how he first discovered and got into a relationship with John Adams (though I find him kind of a dull character so I'd prefer not to dwell on him too much). Alternately, look at where he goes forward after John Adams' death - how he mourns even if he has to do privately, who he is able to talk with about this, does he get into a lavender marriage with Enid and does he share the truth of his sexuality and his past love with her? And who is the man who comes after? I'd love to see some romance between Oscar and some OCs, but also just some general Oscar character exploration.

The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue Series - Mackenzi Lee

Canon is a 3-book historical fantasy novel series by Mackenzie Lee: The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue, The Lady's Guide to Petticoats and Piracy, and The Nobleman's Guide to Scandal and Shipwrecks, each focusing on a different sibling in the Montague family (Henry "Monty," Felicity and Adrian). I have read all three.

My requested characters are Monty and his best friend/love interest Percy Newton, from the first book, who I'd like written about together; and Simmaa "Sim" Aldajah and Johanna Hoffmann, who are supporting characters in the second book, and where I'd like either Sim and Johanna together or Sim alone.

A lot of what I love so much about these books is the accurate exploration of queer, neurodivergent and other diverse ways of being in the context of 18th century Europe. The characters rarely feel to me like modern people inserted into that era - they feel like how people of that time who have these identities would be then. That's something I really appreciated and would like to explore further with these characters.

With Monty/Percy, basically I just want more of their love and romance - a continuation of where their life goes forward from the first book. We see bits of them in books two and three, but I'd love you to fill in the gaps, or even continue to let us watch Monty and Percy grow old together after book 3. What kind of life do they have together? How open are they (or can they be) about who they are to each other? What kind of relationship do they have going forward with Felicity, Adrian or anyone else? I'd love to see your answers to these questions - but most of all I'd like sweet, swoony love between them (and more smut is great too!)

With Sim, the idea of a lesbian North African Muslim pirate queen is just so intriguing and yet we only get small portions of this in the second and third books. I'd really love to see a story that focuses wholly on Sim, and especially on her relationships with women. We see her flirting with Felicity but being rebuffed since Felicity is aroace - but who does she actually have a chance with? I like the idea of her with Johanna, so if you bring Johanna into it I think that would be really cool to explore. But it would also be great to see her with an OC, or multiple OCs! I especially like a focus on cultural differences with her lovers, but you could also - similarly to Oscar above - do something exploring her earlier life and how she recognized she was into women, and her earliest relationships with girls.

Just Married Exchange 2025: Letter

General Preferences:

This varies a bit by fandom, so please see those specific sections (for instance, there are some specific fandoms/ships where I prefer darker stuff, and most stuff below is relatively fluffy/lighthearted) but here are some general ideas of what sort of fic I enjoy.

I love a lot of the fandom cliches, particularly Only One Bed, fake dating turned real, friends to lovers. Can never get enough of those.
I’m a big fan of reading about characters in a relationship growing as people together, discovering new sides to themselves, figuring out how to live or raise kids together, etc.
I like soulmate AUs a LOT so long as the characters still get some chance to develop feelings organically, whether or not they are already aware of their soulmate status. Stuff where they find out before they are in love and kind of fight it at first, but end up getting to know and falling for the person anyway — love it, can’t get enough.
Big into people falling in love with someone they'd never expect.
I really love outside character perspectives/reactions on a particularly unexpected relationship.
If you have characters from different cultures, countries, worlds, planets, etc. I really really love stuff that explores cultural differences in relationship norms (regardless of the nature of the specific relationship, I love this between friends, colleagues, etc. too as well as lovers) and where characters share their cultures with each other.
Some things I really like for smut fic: Oral sex, especially cunnilingus or rimming. Strap-ons. Motorboating, nipple play (no clamps though), boobs/chest focus. Marking, including/especially scent-marking but also stuff like leaving scars. Femdom in F/M. Creative and weird uses of non-human biology in sex in sci-fi and fantasy scenarios.

Additional caveats:

Consent: Characters do not have to give explicit verbal consent to be considered "consenting." Characters being drunk/high/stoned is fine as long as they're both clearly into it, and as long as they're not clearly way past the point where they could say no IRL (just use your best judgment here, I'm just really tired of fics where one beer is treated like a "dubcon" situation).

Dubcon: I do not want any outright non-con/rape, but I am fine with some degree of dubcon as long as it's a situation where the person would be interested in that other person if they were clear-headed (or whatever the case may be), where it's more of a catalyst to acting on real feelings, and also where whomever is not "dubconned" isn't intentionally taking advantage of the other party. I prefer mutual dubcon, and I especially enjoy the classic tropes like "sex pollen," pon-farr/fuck-or-die stuff with sci-fi and fantasy races, etc.

Historical accuracy: I'm someone who has a strong interest in history, including in the periods for historical fiction works here. I don't expect exacting historical accuracy, but please don't get basic and broad things wrong: some examples would be which countries existed, having people use overly modern slang, etc. My one caveat is anything involving music, as that is my own area of academic expertise. If you're going to incorporate something involving music history or music trivia please make sure you really and truly know it (as in, are not just relying on something you saw online or you remember your high school band teacher telling you) because it will truly take me out of the fic if people get things wrong there! Characters talking about music, playing it, going to concerts, etc. is fine, but if they are going to make a fact claim about it, fact-check it if it's intended to be accurate (obviously, if you intend the character to be wrong or unsure, that's fine). (For the purposes of this exchange, this section applies most to A Dangerous Man: Lawrence After Arabia and The Gilded Age. FE3H is set in its own medieval fantasy world that I don’t expect to be overly similar to the historical Middle Ages any more than the original game is, so go to town.)

I want it set in the time period and setting of the show, and preferably fairly close to "canon." Caveat is that as of this writing, I don't yet know what season 3 has in store, so "close to canon" in the sense of "where the show is at at the end of season 2." But feel free to draw on the events of season 3 if you want! I'm sure I'll still love it so long as it still adheres to my DNWs from the sign-up. (And don't worry about spoilers: I'm a spoilerphile, and I'll also be watching this season week by week as it airs in the U.S.)

Sailor Moon: This is my first time requesting this somehow? So I don't have a preexisting letter, though I'm working on these for other fandoms. The main thing here is to follow what I discuss in the signup prompt, and earlier in this letter for my general fandom preferences. I'm a big fan with these ships of soulmates/connections to their past lives in the Moon Kingdom. More specifically with particular ships: I love stuff with Haruka/Michiru about how they initially get together and discover their lesbian identities, and also am most into smut with this ship; with Ami/Rei and Minako/Rei I'm big into opposite-attracts stuff, and with Ami/Rei stuff set relatively early in season 1, soon after Rei is first awakened as a Senshi. With Kunzite/Zoisite, I would also love to see backstory - does their relationship date back to their time in the Moon Kingdom, and when they were Prince Endymion's friends before the Dark Kingdom recruited them? Whether or not you go that route, how did they get together, and what's caused their relationship to last? What do they love so much about each other? I overall prefer stuff to focus on the anime or the manga, but not Sailor Moon Crystal; and in Minako/Rei's case, I also like the live-action TV series' take on them.
Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence: Go based on what's in the letter. In terms of prompts, I'd really like both missing-scenes that explore a sexual or romantic relationship between Celliers and Yonoi, but also potential alternate, happier endings where they're able to be together. Also big on smut here, and angst! (but with a happy ending.) If you don't think you can make a happy ending happen here, I am fine with it happening mid-canon without where they eventually go from there specified.

This varies a bit by fandom, so please see those specific sections (for instance, there are some specific fandoms/ships where I prefer darker stuff, and most stuff below is relatively fluffy/lighthearted) but here are some general ideas of what sort of fic I enjoy.

I love a lot of the fandom cliches, particularly Only One Bed, fake dating turned real, friends to lovers. Can never get enough of those.
I’m a big fan of reading about characters in a relationship growing as people together, discovering new sides to themselves, figuring out how to live or raise kids together, etc.
I like soulmate AUs a LOT so long as the characters still get some chance to develop feelings organically, whether or not they are already aware of their soulmate status. Stuff where they find out before they are in love and kind of fight it at first, but end up getting to know and falling for the person anyway — love it, can’t get enough.
Big into people falling in love with someone they'd never expect.
I really love outside character perspectives/reactions on a particular unexpected relationship.
If you have characters from different cultures, countries, worlds, planets, etc. I really really love stuff that explores cultural differences in relationship norms (regardless of the nature of the specific relationship, I love this between friends, colleagues, etc. too as well as lovers) and where characters share their cultures with each other.
Some things I really like for smut fic: Oral sex, especially cunnilingus or rimming. Strap-ons. Motorboating, nipple play (no clamps though), boobs/chest focus. Marking, including/especially scent-marking but also stuff like leaving scars. Femdom in F/M. Creative and weird uses of non-human biology in sex in sci-fi and fantasy scenarios.

Here is the solo letter for this fandom!

Canon is a two-season Amazon Prime series and a novel. I'm familiar with both of these, though it's been a while since I read the book - but overall, feel free to write them based on either canon.

Primarily interested in the following (canon!) ships:

Aziraphale/Crowley
Maggie/Nina
Beelzebub/Gabriel

Sometimes I only request one or the others for an exchange, though, so refer to that.

I'm much more interested in trans and non-binary headcanons here! (And of course, this doesn't apply to canonically non-binary characters like Beelzebub anyway,) This is especially true with the angels and demons, whom I figure have a pretty casual relationship to gender and other human identity categories to begin with, as they can shapeshift and all. That said, I still have two caveats with those:

Should not be a way to make a relationship F/M that is not canonically (other genderbends, e.g. changing M/M to F/F or M/NB, are fine!)
No PIV (penis-in-vagina) sex! Writing one person as having a vagina and the other a penis is fine, but please have them do different things in bed like oral, anal, manual, toys, etc.

Stuff I really like!

In smut: weird angel/demon genitalia if choosing one of those ships, playing around with their anatomy and their shapeshifting abilities - including making Crowley more lizardy
Fake dating, arranged marriages, marriage of convenience (as long as it becomes "real" by the end!)
Only One Bed! Can't get enough
Mpreg (that isn't Omegaverse or A/B/O, which I have as a firm DNW) - feel like you can have a lot of fun with angels and demons here, like a more lizardy Crowley laying an egg or something
Soulmate AUs, provided the main couple are actually soulmates in that universe (it's not a situation of "our universe-designated soulmates are other people but we're picking each other instead")
Playing around with the various historical periods that Aziraphale and Crowley have lived through
Focusing on Aziraphale's love of books and his bookstore
Focusing on characters' musical tastes (though I'm a music historian IRL so please make sure you fact-check any assertions you have them make that are supposed to be true)
Any of the ships listed above that you DON'T pick as background to the one you do. (For instance, if I only listed A/C in a request, having M/N and/or B/G as background ships is very appreciated!)
Fix-its of the end of s2 for A/C

Stuff I really don't like:

Anything specialized in the "general DNW" for the exchange that doesn't have an exception for this fandom
All-human or mundane AUs! I know this is in the general letter, but since this fandom has so much of that, just wanted to extra specify that this is not my cup of tea.
(similarly) UST that remains unresolved / pre-ship without any romantic resolution. I want any ships I request to be romantically and sexually interested in each other, to show that and to get together. For instance, even with my interest in the various historical periods they've lived through with A/C, if you're going to focus on that I would prefer you show them at least having sex or hooking-up, if not yet in a relationship.
Feminizing terms for male characters because they're the bottom, the pregnant one in an mpreg scenario, etc.

Star Trek Holidays 2024: Letter

Hello writer!

Much of this is similar to my letter for 2023, so please consult that first here. All of my basic preferences, DNWs and so on are explained in detail there OR in the AO3 signup.

Ideas for additional ships not covered in the previous letter:

Curzon/Garak: Garak was on Romulus and Qo'nos at some point before canon; Curzon was an ambassador who traveled to those places. What if they overlapped, and what if they hooked up? What if this is part of why Jadzia and Garak seem to be a tad uneasy around each other / what if this is why Jadzia seems to disapprove or be skeptical of Julian's relationship with Garak?

Curzon/Julian: Obviously, a time-travel situation. Julian goes back in time, meets a younger Curzon Dax and they bang. What kind of dramatics ensure? How does this affect his relationship with Jadzia or Ezri when they get back? (No endgame Julian/Jadzia or Julian/Ezri please, as per the DNWs, so this is more "how would it affect their friendship/working relationship?")

Sisko/Jadzia: As I said in the sign-up, I'm a big fan of both a more traditional romantic treatment of this, or some more casual sex/hooking up. Can go with a mix of both too! But I'd rather it not be pure UST or pre-het/pre-romance - I would like it to be reciprocal. (Pining/UST can be great with this ship, but there's more than enough of it already.) Love exploring them hooking up and any complicated feelings that might ensure, based on their history, Jadzia now being Sisko's underling, etc. Especially if you also suggest there might have been something going on with Curzon and SIsko back in the day! Does this count as "reassociation"?

Curzon/Sisko: I'm just amazed there isn't more of this out there. As with previous, can be more casual or a romance. I love it being mixed in with some sort of mentorship relationship, where Curzon is both an authority figure or mentor and also someone that Sisko is hooking up with. I would prefer Sisko not be too young or naive here, though; I don't want it to take on too much of an air of Curzon taking advantage of him. More just having fun with Sisko getting to fuck that old man (whom he literally calls old man!) I also wrote a fic where the "Curzodo" situation in "Facets" lets them rekindle it a bit, and I love that idea.

Curzon/Cal/Sisko: similar sort of detail to above, but adding in Sisko's friend from The Lives of Dax to the mix!

Dax Symbiont/Sisko is anything where Sisko is with multiple Daxes over time, and would be a great place to do a soulmate AU or something of that nature.

Garak/Sisko: I firmly prefer this as a one-off thing during "In the Pale Moonlight," not as an ongoing endgame serious relationship, but it's really interesting to imagine the very strange relationship these two develop to each other bursting into sexual tension and then something more briefly. Could also work for me as a catalyst to help them explore their feelings for someone else. (Sisko as a "practice" human for Bashir for Garak, etc.) Or even just to make Dukat jealous, hahahaha

Julian/Goran'Agar: The tension, whatever kind you call it, between them can be cut with a knife. I don't really want this to be suggested to be true love or an ongoing forever thing, but it could be interesting to explore it as something where both of them wonder if it could be that way while feeling like they might never get off the planet during "Hippocratic Oath." Could be a great place to explore Julian's xenophilia, and how he likely feels about being probably the first humanoid to get it on with a Jem'Hadar (and also worldbuilding about what exactly they have down there) and if he wonders if he's taking advantage of Goran'Agar's sexual naivete, while Goran'Agar wonders if he's taking advantage of Julian being at his mercy. I'm interested in this either happening within the episode as it is, canon-compliant, or in an AU where Julian manages to cure them and/or get Goran'Agar off the planet. Though, again, I don't want it to be endgame.

Any combo of Winn with Kira, Keiko or Kasidy: This is firmly in "I love mess," toxic yuri territory, but there's a lot of different ways you could play these various women as butting heads. I think I elaborate enough on Kira in the previous letter... with Keiko, playing into their clashing over religion and Keiko's teaching; with Kasidy, them both trying to manipulate each other relative to their respective relationships with Sisko and/or the Maquis, but it turns into a real, uncomfortable attraction; etc.

Female Founder ships: anything here that plays on her attempt to curry favor with powerful women who hold essential positions in major Alpha Quadrant powers. Especially there's a lot of potential for mess and guilt with Winn, but Lwaxana with any other strong woman is just inherently fascinating (heh) to me!

Mila/Winn: I love this as pre-canon, running on the idea that Mila is an Order agent and Winn was part of the Bajoran resistance, perhaps, and it was a honeypot. Or even that Mila didn't know she was being used that way, in some respect, by Tain, or had moved on from him and found herself on Bajor for other reasons. Whatever you want to do here that works!

Kira/Mirror Kira: You know what this is about. Just wild, crazy hatesex. Alternately, this is one where I'm fine with one-sided pining from Mirror Kira to Prime Kira - but also, Prime Kira experiencing a strange attraction mixed with loathing for her counterpart, and wondering what would happen if she gave in. All the weirdness of fucking your clone, etc. One of them trying to manipulate the other, but then it's hot. I would like some action, but whether it's actually happening between them or all in one or the other's head is up to you.

Kira/Ziyal: Reciprocal or one-sided from Ziyal toward Kira are both good to me, but I definitely want a version of this that explores this dynamic being kind of messed-up no matter how you play it. Not something where Kira is outright being intentionally predatory, but where she's discomfited perhaps by feelings for his young woman who she had previously taken a more parental role toward, but still flattered. Tobin/Iloja: I've written a multichapter epic about the idea that Tobin Dax and famed Cardassian poet Iloja of Prim actually hooked up, running from Jadzia bringing up that they knew each other during the episode with the Cardassian scientists. But I'm up for anything you can come up with here, including various readings of those characters. Go wild!

A note: With Julian and Garak ships, when I say I don't want anything where they're in an endgame that isn't Garashir, what I mean is to just not write anything that could preclude a future Garashir endgame. So don't have them get married to that other person, don't suggest they love them more etc. I think with all of those though, there are a lot of ways you can write it where that's just not an issue at all!

Here's the solo fandom letter for this one!

Canon is a 26-episode fantasy-romance anime series from 2002-2003. I am not familiar with additional stuff like the manga, that one "sequel" fanfic, etc.

I am a longtime, huge fan of this anime, so I'm excited to finally request it for some exchanges! This should give you an idea of what I like here, but in general, this is a fandom where I'm pretty flexible. I generally like stuff that sticks close to canon here, as I think the canon of the anime is pretty much perfect, but there are some exceptions: if you can find a way to let Fakiru continue into the future, bring Ahiru back as a human so they can be together, etc. go ahead! I'm also good with both gen and shipping fic.

Ships I Like:

Fakir/Ahiru (Fakiru), Rue/Mytho (Ruetho), Ahiru/Rue (Ahirue), Fakir/Mytho, Autor/Fakir, Autor/Fakir/Mytho, Autor/Fakir/Ahiru, Autor/Rue, Autor/Rue/Mytho, Fakir/Ahiru/Rue/Mytho

But again, this isn't a fandom where I feel particularly strong about something NEEDING to be ship fic. Thanks for writing for me! I'm super excited to see what you come up with! This is my first time participating in Trick or Treat Exchange, but I've done a lot of other exchanges before, as this Dreamwidth documents - so I have some good ideas of what I'm interested in with a lot of these fandoms!

Note: Please do not take the fact that there is much more detail for some fandoms than others to mean that I'd be less excited if you wrote one over another! I just have more exacting preferences with some fandoms, or more specific ideas/prompts for what I want, whereas with others I'm more flexible. If there isn't as much detail, that just means I'm more open to see what you can do! I'd be psyched to receive any of these!

I am open to treats in all requested fandoms!

Trick or Treat Preferences:

Generally speaking, I'm not a huge fan of outright darkfic or whump, especially where it involves a ship in question not getting together or being abusive or otherwise having a bad time (with some specific exceptions: see: Edelgard/Rhea from FE3H). However, I do like spooky themes, monster-oriented horror (like vampires and ghosts), and mysteries/thrillers. In terms of outright darker stuff, if you can find a way to incorporate that doesn't "darken" the central ship, even better! (Perhaps they're investigating some outside tragedy?)

Treats should be easier, as I've written extensively about what I like in terms of fluff, romance, happy stuff, etc. in my previous letters for each fandom. So check those out! If you can find a way to make it a "treat" and still keep a Halloween/spooky them to it, all the better!

General Preferences:

This varies a bit by fandom, so please see those specific sections (for instance, there are some specific fandoms/ships where I prefer darker stuff, and most stuff below is relatively fluffy/lighthearted) but here are some general ideas of what sort of fic I enjoy.

I love a lot of the fandom cliches, particularly Only One Bed, fake dating turned real, friends to lovers. Can never get enough of those.
I’m a big fan of reading about characters in a relationship growing as people together, discovering new sides to themselves, figuring out how to live or raise kids together, etc.
I like soulmate AUs a LOT so long as the characters still get some chance to develop feelings organically, whether or not they are already aware of their soulmate status. Stuff where they find out before they are in love and kind of fight it at first, but end up getting to know and falling for the person anyway — love it, can’t get enough.
Big into people falling in love with someone they'd never expect.
I really love outside character perspectives/reactions on a particular unexpected relationship.
If you have characters from different cultures, countries, worlds, planets, etc. I really really love stuff that explores cultural differences in relationship norms (regardless of the nature of the specific relationship, I love this between friends, colleagues, etc. too as well as lovers) and where characters share their cultures with each other.
Some things I really like for smut fic: Oral sex, especially cunnilingus or rimming. Strap-ons. Motorboating, nipple play (no clamps though), boobs/chest focus. Marking, including/especially scent-marking but also stuff like leaving scars. Femdom in F/M. Creative and weird uses of non-human biology in sex in sci-fi and fantasy scenarios.

GENERAL DNWs, no exceptions:

Consent: Characters do not have to give explicit verbal consent to be considered "consenting." Characters being drunk/high/stoned is fine as long as they're both clearly into it, and as long as they're not clearly way past the point where they could consent IRL (just use your best judgment here, I'm just really tired of fics where one beer is treated like a "dubcon" situation).

Dubcon: I do not want any outright non-con/rape, but I am fine with some degree of dubcon as long as it's a situation where the person would be interested in that other person if they were clear-headed (or whatever the case may be), where it's more of a catalyst to acting on real feelings, and also where whomever is not "dubconned" isn't intentionally taking advantage of the other party. I prefer mutual dubcon, and I especially enjoy the classic tropes like "sex pollen," pon-farr/fuck-or-die stuff with sci-fi and fantasy races, etc.

Enemies to Lovers Exchange Letter 2024

Thanks for writing for me for this exchange! Please check out the tagged series for ideas of what to write for these fandoms; I've requested all of these before!

I'll focus this specifically on Garak/Bashir from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine since they're the ones where they might not easily fit the "enemies to lovers" ideas, as they're clearly "friends to lovers" in the show.

So here are some prompts that I think could be interesting! Though I'd love to see what you come up with:

AU where Julian gets found out as an augment and exiled while he's at Starfleet Academy or right after graduating, and finds himself on Cardassia, with Garak still there - possibly spying on him? I've seen this one done well before ("The Mark" by stuffedtiger) but would love to see your own twist on it
Time-travel, where Julian encounters a younger Garak who is still working for the OO (again, have seen this done well before, but would love to see your take on it too)
AU: Julian's there on Empok Nor and has to deal with a killer-drugged Garak - though I'd prefer not one who is actively trying to kill him, but maybe where Julian is the exception to his murder spree (the drug doesn't see him as "foreign") and Julian has to balance that and what that means with trying to stop Garak from killing his friends. Or alternately, the drug does try to urge Garak to kill him, and Garak is fighting it, and Julian is unsure about what he needs to do here - but it builds up to them getting together perhaps after they get back and Garak is cured - and maybe he has to deal with some angry feelings about getting together, in this moment, to someone who killed Starfleet officers?
AU where Garak does go back to Tain in "The Die is Cast" and tries to find some way to bring Julian along
Garashir getting together around the events of "Broken Link" and Julian trying to negotiate his feelings with what Garak tried to do. Or Julian actively tries to stop him in the moment but they also kiss...
What if Julian is much more distrusting of Cardassians at first than he was in canon? What if he has some personal reason for doing so (e.g. knew someone personally already who died in war against them, for instance? Or was really involved in pro-Bajoran activism in university or something)? How does this change the way they get together? (I keep meaning to do something with this myself; I really love stuff that examines what the non-Starfleet parts of the Federation's attitudes toward various aliens are, particularly Cardassians, and how others would feel about Julian's relationship with Garak through that lens.)

But so long as it doesn't violate my DNWs, I'm up for whatever you have in mind here!

Wayfarers Series Exchange Preferences

I am going to start putting some fandoms that have had evolving preferences in their own entries, which I will then link to in letters when I request them for a particular exchange. The first I'm going to do this with is Wayfarers, since my requests have been shifting a lot as I've been reading more books in the series - making it inconvenient to keep making people go back to some earlier letter where that wasn't the case, etc.

Canon is a sci-fi novel series by Becky Chambers, set in the same universe but largely stand-alone. There are four books: #1 The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet, #2 A Closed and Common Orbit, #3 Record of a Spaceborn Few and #4 The Galaxy and the Ground Within. As of this most recent edit (July 2024) I have read all of these books except for #3.

Rosemary/Sissix:

(Featured in book #1)

This is my OTP for the series, essentially; I just really love their relationship, which presses so many of my buttons as a yuri and alien lover, and I want more than their book gave us! I would love stuff that delves deeper into how they click, including by incorporating worldbuilding involving Sissix's culture or other alien cultures. How does their relationship going forward from the first book fit in with Sissix's culture's norms about relationships? Where do they go from there?

If you go for smutty stuff (which I am A-OK with here), I love stuff that focuses on differences in alien biology from human biology, especially in exploring Sissix's reptilian body and all that entails.

I love the exploration-focused sci-fi plots, so feel free to have the Wayfarer explore more strange new worlds with Rosemary, Sissix and their relationship as a central focus. I really love the worldbuilding in this series and would love fics that explore it further!

Specific Prompts:

Delving further into Aandrisk (or future human) culture, history, geography, art/media, etc.

A lot of similar preferences here to Rosemary/Sissix, with the additional caveat that I'm fascinated by how Pei got into such a relationship given the strong taboos against romantic/sexual relationships with aliens in Aeluon culture. I'd really love stuff that focuses on how they first get together, first begin to realize they care more about each other than they know what to do with, and how Pei navigates that relationship.

Similar stuff from Ashby's perspective, too! What are his initial feelings for Pei and how does he feel about being a dirty little secret in the beginning? When do his feelings start to change? What kinds of relationships has he had before and what makes him so willing to try this with Pei? What do each of his crewmates think about it and how does he feel about that? (Book #1 delves into that last question a little bit, but I'd love to see more!)

The bulleted stuff at the end with R/S also applies here: how you can incorporate Aeluon vs. human Exodan culture/history/etc., how those cultural differences play out in their relationship, the anatomical fun of human/alien sex ;) and how this impacts both their ships' futures and missions. In terms of anatomical/biological stuff, I'm particular curious about how the Aeluon lack of "hearing" (and the way their implants don't hear conventionally, but rather translate sound into something they can understand) affects their relationship - perhaps when exchanging cultural ideas? What does an Aeluon think of human music, for instance?

I also love post-book-4 stuff with these two as well, with Pei's decision at the end of the book suggesting she's willing to give up quite a lot of her cultural norms to be with Ashby. Does that move them into a more serious relationship going forward? Are they able to tell more people? What happens next? And what is the fallout of those choices?

Historical accuracy: I'm someone who has a strong interest in history, including in the periods for historical fiction works here. I don't expect exacting historical accuracy, but please don't get basic and broad things wrong: some examples would be which countries existed, having people use overly modern slang, etc. My one caveat is anything involving music, as that is my own area of academic expertise. If you're going to incorporate something involving music history or music trivia please make sure you really and truly know it (as in, are not just relying on something you saw online or you remember your high school band teacher telling you) because it will truly take me out of the fic if people get things wrong there! Characters talking about music, playing it, going to concerts, etc. is fine, but if they are going to make a fact claim about it, fact-check it if it's intended to be accurate (obviously, if you intend the character to be wrong or unsure, that's fine). (Additional note: For the purposes of this exchange, this whole section mainly applies to A Dangerous Man: Lawrence After Arabia. With Bridgerton and A Song of Ice and Fire, since they're set in what are essentially AUs of Regency Britain and the Middle Ages, I'm more about them just being consistent with what those canons establish, and the characters not feeling overly "contemporary" in how they talk, their attitudes, etc. See the sections on those specific fandoms for more detail.)

I was so thrilled by the canonical queer Bridgertons in season 3! Haters to the left, you can all stop watching if you want, the show is for us :) So I've decided to focus my letter on those once and potentially future F/F and M/M ships.

I have also read all but two of the Bridgerton novels (Hyacinth's and Gregory's), but I would prefer that your story focus on the show canon in any places where the two conflict. I also have some specific things that happen in the books that the show hasn't yet covered that I do NOT want in my fic, even in the background - see that in the "DNW" section. Otherwise, though, stuff from book canon that does not conflict with show canon is fine (including from those two books; I know broadly what happens, who they each end up with, etc. so I'm fine with book spoilers as long it's not stuff where I'd have to have actually read those books for it to make sense. I don't expect this will be a problem since I didn't request any Hyacinth or Gregory ships, lol.)

I'm fine with Bridgerton's flagrant, campy historical inaccuracies, but I still would prefer that characters act somewhat like people from its version of Regency Britain. For instance, don't use speech that sounds overly out of place; and especially, please, don't have them talk about queer identities or sexuality in a way that sounds like someone from the 21st century - including likely using the word "queer" at all, affixing specific labels to themselves, or really understanding it as an "identity" in the first place rather than an action (that was something that only really came about beginning in the late 19th century at the earliest). That being said, I am cool with an AU where people are more accepting of what we now understand as non-cishet identities than they would've been in both the historical Regency and Bridgerton's version of it - not a modern AU, but a same-as-canon-except-less-homophobic AU: such as a situation where same-gender marriage is a possibility. (I really like the idea I saw on a Tumblr post, when talking about making queer arranged marriages in fantasy-historical settings, of having it be a way of marrying off "surplus" children in large families, similar to what joining the church was like in some other countries in reality - so, not a possibility for Anthony, but perhaps some of his younger siblings?)

With this being a virginity exchange, I like the idea of both exploring with some characters (such as male!Sophie, perhaps, or Eloise) them being fully inexperienced, while others might be experienced specifically in opposite-sex sex but not with the same sex. Basically, lots of room to play with the idea of virginity, as you see fit for the couple in question. With Lady Danbury's questionably-consensual relationship with her late husband, does she only see herself as truly losing her virginity when she has consensual sex after? If you read Francesca as lesbian (I am fine with either lesbian or bi readings for her), does she feel like she only loses her virginity with Michaela rather than with John, or does she view them as essentially two "separate" virginities? And so on and so forth.

Extra note if you pick Francesca/Michaela: When He Was Wicked is one of my favorites of the books, so if you're familiar with it, I'm really curious to see how you can adapt plot/characterization elements from that book to a lesbian relationship rather than a straight one. I can't wait to see where the show goes with that, so I'm eager to see your twist on it too!

BRIDGERTON-SPECIFIC DNW:

Contemporary approaches to sexuality/sexual identity that don't fit in with the show's version of the Regency (per above elaboration)
Eloise/Phillip, even in the background (just really hate that relationship, Eloise deserves so much better, and I especially can't see show!Eloise being at all interested)

Characters being drunk/high/stoned is fine as long as they're both clearly into it, and as long as they're not clearly way past the point where they could consent IRL (just use your best judgment here, I'm just really tired of fics where one beer is treated like a "dubcon" situation).

Dubcon: I do not want any outright non-con/rape, but I am fine with some degree of dubcon as long as it's a situation where the person would be interested in that other person if they were clear-headed (or whatever the case may be), where it's more of a catalyst to acting on real feelings, and also where whomever is not "dubconned" isn't intentionally taking advantage of the other party. I prefer mutual dubcon, and I especially enjoy the classic tropes like "sex pollen," pon-farr/fuck-or-die stuff with sci-fi and fantasy races, etc.

Historical accuracy: I'm someone who has a strong interest in history, including in the periods for historical fiction works here. I don't expect exacting historical accuracy, but please don't get basic and broad things wrong: some examples would be which countries existed, having people use overly modern slang, etc. My one caveat is anything involving music, as that is my own area of academic expertise. If you're going to incorporate something involving music history or music trivia please make sure you really and truly know it (as in, are not just relying on something you saw online or you remember your high school band teacher telling you) because it will truly take me out of the fic if people get things wrong there! Characters talking about music, playing it, going to concerts, etc. is fine, but if they are going to make a fact claim about it, fact-check it if it's intended to be accurate (obviously, if you intend the character to be wrong or unsure, that's fine).

Additional caveats:

Consent: Characters do not have to give explicit verbal consent to be considered "consenting." Characters being drunk/high/stoned is fine as long as they're both clearly into it, and as long as they're not clearly way past the point where they could consent IRL (just use your best judgment here, I'm just really tired of fics where one beer is treated like a "dubcon" situation).

Dubcon: I do not want any outright non-con/rape, but I am fine with some degree of dubcon as long as it's a situation where the person would be interested in that other person if they were clear-headed (or whatever the case may be), where it's more of a catalyst to acting on real feelings, and also where whomever is not "dubconned" isn't intentionally taking advantage of the other party. I prefer mutual dubcon, and I especially enjoy the classic tropes like "sex pollen," pon-farr/fuck-or-die stuff with sci-fi and fantasy races, etc.

Historical accuracy: I'm someone who has a strong interest in history, including in some of the periods depicted in the real-world historical fiction I've requested. I don't expect exacting historical accuracy, but please don't get basic and broad things wrong: some examples would be which countries existed, having people use overly modern slang, etc. My one caveat is anything involving music, as that is my own area of academic expertise. If you're going to incorporate something involving music history or music trivia please make sure you really and truly know it (as in, are not just relying on something you saw online or you remember your high school band teacher telling you) because it will truly take me out of the fic if people get things wrong there! Characters talking about music, playing it, going to concerts, etc. is fine, but if they are going to make a fact claim about it, fact-check it if it's intended to be accurate (obviously, if you intend the character to be wrong or unsure, that's fine).

Religion headcanons: Given the nature of this event, I'm totally game for Jewish headcanons, especially if it lets you incorporate some more characters! I'll list some specific ones I have ideas about in the fandom-specific sections, but you can feel free to apply them to other requested characters as well. I'm also into headcanons for other non-Christian religions if that works for your story. The caveats I would give is a) it should make sense for the characters in question, based on who they are in canon, unless it's an AU (for instance, non-human characters in sci-fi/fantasy should be converts unless they were raised by humans); b) do not apply it to characters who have conflicting canonical religious affiliations that they feel strongly about, including Christians (for instance: most of the non-Jewish characters in The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi, devout Bajoran characters like Kira or Winn in DS9, etc.)

With this fandom, I'd obviously love a traditionally shippy Garashir or another ship I really like if you can swing it, but I'm also curious, per this challenge, of seeing how you can incorporate Jewish identity for the headcanoned characters.
I'm also really into more gen, character-exploration fic focused on the requested women - especially Natima, Kasidy, and Leeta, who always felt like really potentially interesting characters that we could have learned so much more about who they are and where they came from, or Winn or Ishka's pre-canon backstories. Or Jadzia for that matter... would love to know more about her family and what kind of person she was before she was joined! I would love more explorations of Trill culture through the various female Dax hosts, or Cardassia or Bajor through those characters, of Kasidy's space piracy career, and so on and so forth.
A Garashir idea would be one where Julian is Jewish and one of the ways that they are getting serious is Garak is considering converting for him. What does he like/dislike about it, how sincere is he about it (and does Julian take it seriously), and does Julian actually care if he does it or does Garak just seem to see it as the kind of gesture a good Cardassian spouse would make or something? There are some fun ways to explore their dynamic through the parameters of this challenge, and I'd love to see what you do with it.
Or just do a Purim celebration on DS9, where whichever characters you treat as Jewish introduce the rest of the station to it! With how much those characters love roleplaying and dressing up in costumes, it's gotta be up their alley, right?
I've never been a huge fan of the Star Trek canon idea that Terran religion stops existing entirely in the future; I like to think the oppressive parts of it go away, but that individuals and communities keep up their traditions around it. So feel free to deviate from it and explore how you think Jewish or other religious identity would look in the 24th century, and how much that rubs up against alien religious beliefs (it would be particularly interesting to see what the Bajorans on DS9 think of a Human religious celebration).

This is another fandom where I'm fairly flexible - I just would like to see what you can do - but I do have a strong desire for Rosemary/Sissix ship fic or character/backstory exploration of anyone requested (or both, if you desire!) I will note that so far I have only read the first two books in the series, A Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet and A Close and Common Orbit. I plan to read the later books and I don't mind spoilers for them, but would prefer that you not write a fic that draws on material from those two in such a way that it would be confusing for someone who has not read them, that focuses on characters from those books that don't already feature in the previous two, etc.

Per the Rosemary/Sissix poly caveat: I don't really like polyamory as a focus of a story, but I don't expect you to pretend that they're a monogamous relationship when they are not in canon. Rosemary finding she enjoys that aspect of being with an Aandrisk is also great too! That said, I'm also fine with readings where their relationship is considered the most significant one in each other's lives, even if they also have other ones; in fact, I really like that sort of thing.

Along with character stuff and Rosemary/Sissix ship fic, I'm also a big fan of worldbuilding here; one of my favorite parts of reading the books is learning new things about its vast array of alien cultures as well as about how Earth culture has adapted among the stars, the differences between those who've stayed closer to Earth vs. Exodans, etc. I think this would work really well with the Jewish headcanon aspect, too. What does religion look like for this version of humanity? Do the religions of modern-day Earth still persist, and if so, in what form? What does Jewish identity or religious practice look like? I'd love to see what you do with that here!

As for DNWs: the stuff in the DS9 section about not wanting alien cultures/religions to have human-style bigotries that they don't in canon, also applies here. Sad/unhappy endings I don't want, either. This is my favorite anime of all time, and I really, genuinely do love every character on this show. I'm very interested in a lot of the relationships that are both canon and implied.

I enjoy things that lean into the dark, messy nature of a lot of the relationships in the show. In fact, I would prefer not to have something overly fluffy, or if you want to go there, at least give me some smut 🙂 I am 100% ok with pure smut/PWP in this fandom.

I like explorations of anyone's sexuality, as long as it's not in a didactic way or one that focuses overmuch on specific labels. But stuff where they might have to deal with attraction they didn't anticipate, wonder what this means about them, how it relates to hang-ups they have about gender... great stuff and the sort of thing that Utena is all about, really!

I am familiar with the original anime series, original manga, the Adolesence of Utena series and accompanying manga, and the After the Revolution "sequel" manga from a few years ago. I'm starting to read the light novels. I'd prefer a work based on the anime series, but if you want to include elements from those other works, that's cool too. I'm not familiar with any other Utena canons, but I'm fine with spoilers so dropping in stuff from there is cool with me, so long as it doesn't require me to have read/watched/etc. the thing in order to understand it.

Specific Prompts:

Introspective/character study. I would really love this focused on ANY character, but if you do need some specific characters, my current personal favorites among requested are Juri, Nanami, Wakaba and the two mains, Anthy and Utena.

I haven't read a lot in this fandom except Ferdibert and Casphardt, so I'm pretty open. The main thing is that I have rather different preferences for some of these. For instance, I prefer happy endings with most of these, and especially Ferdibert, Caspardt and Doropetra if you go those particular routes; HOWEVER, Edelgard/Rhea is my trash toxic ship and I'd prefer that things be firmly in smutty, messy hellscape town. I love them for how much they hate each other and yet are also kind of obsessed with that. So please keep that in mind depending on which ship you pick.

I like stuff in the fandom that tends to delve deeper into the politics of the story, including how they run this world after they win (especially with the Crimson Flower route), but I also like school shenanigans. It's up to you! I generally prefer post-timeskip stories but obviously if you're going the school shenanigans route I get that that makes it hard.

My personal headcanons are that Hubert, Linhardt and Edelgard are gay and everyone else is bi, but you don't have to stick to those if you'd prefer not to (and I'm generally not a huge fan of drawn-out musings on the particulars of someone's sexual identity anyway). I'm also very into any of these ships in the backgrounds of the one you choose, as long as they don't contradict each other. Honestly, I'm pretty wide-open here. Want to write canon-compliant stuff about them destroying each other and having messy hate sex? Go ahead! Want to do instead do a canon-divergence AU about what their lives could've been like if Alicent hadn't been forced to marry Viserys? Be my guest! I like all kinds of variations on this relationship.

With regard to my "rape/non-con" DNW: I'm aware that Alicent is canonically in a pretty clearly non-consensual relationship with King Viserys, and I don't want that prettied up into something where she's more into him than she really is. So if you go canon-complaint, the thing I would ask is that you not focus on the rape. Keep your focus on whatever relationship she has with Rhaenyra instead, not all the sex she clearly doesn't want with her husband. Same goes for any other canonically non-consensual ships within that fictional universe.

As you can see, I'm a pretty big fan of House Martell/Dorne, House Tyrell, and a lot of historical Targaryens. That said, there aren't many parts of the Song of Ice and Fire universe and history that don't interest me. This is another fandom where I'm pretttttty open to whatever you want to do, whether you want to go canon-compliant or way off-book. That said, I do like a lot of stuff here that are sort of explorations within canon: deleted scenes, moments set before or after the events that are covered on the page. For instance, with Elissa and Rhaena, how did they first fall in love? With Rhaenyra and Laena, how did their relationships work alongside their marriages to their respective husbands? (Hell, if you want to write a Rhaenyra/Daemon who get together out of mutual mourning for Laena, that could be cool as well!) With Sansa/Margaery, if you want to draw somewhat more on Margaery's TV characterization that's cool, though generally with these characters I prefer to hew closer to book canon. With Doran and Mellario, give how they get together and the disintegration of their marriage from Mellario's perspective, perhaps? Or go into her relationships with her kids? She's kind of a non-entity in the books, and I'd love to see more of what made her fall in love with this foreign prince and leave her home, and how that soured over the years.

My caveat for "rape/non-con" with HOTD also more or less applies here. In that: you don't have to pretend that non-consensual canonical relationships didn't happen, but I'd rather the fic not dwell on them.

Ships: If you focus on a romance for Faye (not at all required, I'm totally fine with gen character-exploration stuff), I like Spike/Faye a lot. I'm fine with anything canon or close to canon in the background; I'm not super picky about shipping with this fandom.

The big thing I'd love to have here is more Faye character exploration: we got a lot of her backstory, but more about how she feels adjusting to life on the Bebop, her introspection in the fallout of "Hard Luck Woman," and where she goes afterward. What she thinks of her fellow crewmates, really. Her relationship with Spike, with Jet or with Ed etc. I'd really just love more looking into her head; she's my favorite character, but can be somewhat opaque at times in that particular way. So whatever deeper Faye character exploration you want, I am up for!

My tastes for this series are fairly "canon-compliant." I love it, think it's near-perfect... but that being said, I get that some degree of plot-divergence is required to make endgame Spike/Faye happen, so that's up to you to figure that out if you go that route. And of course there are some intriguing plot divergence scenarios I've thought about too that I'd love fanfic to explore: what if Ed and Ein hadn't left at the end? What if Spike survived his fight with Vicious? (I know some people think he did, but I'm not one of them LOL.) But if you want to stick fairly close to canon, I'm cool with that, too; my Thing in this fandom is more "missing scenes," "deeper explanation of a thing canon only gave us the surface of" or "one choice being different" rather than dramatic divergences from canon.

A Dangerous Man: Lawrence After Arabia (1990)

Canon is a made-for-television movie that aired on UK TV in the early 1990s, designed as a sequel to the 1962 Lawrence of Arabia film, but you do not need to watch that for this film to make sense. It's available in the U.S. on Amazon Prime.

I love this movie so much; both of the mains' performances are so beautiful and they do such a great job of building such a fascinating relationship between these two men that is intertwined with their diplomatic dreams and failures.

I'd really love a version of this where the subtext between the two of them becomes text! (It may as well be text, with some of the moments between them...) Write their private moments at night in-between meetings, write them kissing right after that final shot, write a way for them to be together? I'm fine with stuff that deviates from the historical reality of what happened to them if it allows for more romance. I'm also totally fine with if you want to get NSFW; Faisal/Lawrence are the one ship where I really like BDSM, including lifestyle BDSM.

Despite being really interested in the period, I'm open to AUs here, including modern AUs, AUs in a more accepting (less homophobic, for instance) version of the time period, even an AU where they somehow succeed at getting what Faisal wants from the Paris Peace Conference? (I continue to think that "what if the UK and France didn't continue to insist on colonialism but instead gave more of the non-Western nations what they wanted" is one of the best unrealized alternate-history scenarios, so if you can make that happen, go ahead.) While the big thing I want here is romance between the leads, I'm also super into the geopolitics of this story.

Shoujo Kakumei Utena | Revolutionary Girl Utena

Canon is a 39-episode anime television series that aired in Japan in 1997. It is currently available in the U.S. from Nozomi Entertainment's YouTube channel for free. (This may change over the course of this year's Yuletide as Nozomi Entertainment is in the process of being bought out by Crunchyroll; I'll update this entry if that is the case.) I strongly recommend watching the Japanese dub with English subtitles, rather than the English dub.

This is my favorite anime of all time, and I went for "any character" because I really, genuinely do love every character on this show. I'm very interested in a lot of the relationships that are both canon and implied. In terms of romantic or sexual ones, my favorites are Juri/Shiori, Touga/Saionji, Utena/Anthy, Miki/Touga (one-sided on Miki's part or reciprocal), Mikage/Mamiya, and any combination of Kozue/Nanami/Shiori. In terms of other kinds, Miki's relationship with his sister Kozue, Wakaba's friendship with Utena (which you can make more shippy if you want), and anything centered on Nanami, Juri, or Mikage.

I enjoy things that lean into the dark, messy nature of a lot of the relationships in the show. In fact, I would prefer not to have something overly fluffy, or if you want to go there, at least give me some smut 🙂 I am 100% ok with pure smut/PWP in this fandom.

I like explorations of anyone's sexuality, as long as it's not in a didactic way or one that focuses overmuch on specific labels. But stuff where they might have to deal with attraction they didn't anticipate, wonder what this means about them, how it relates to hang-ups they have about gender... great stuff and the sort of thing that Utena is all about, really!

I am familiar with the original anime series, the original manga, the Adolesence of Utena series and accompanying manga, and the After the Revolution "sequel" manga from a few years ago. I'm starting to read the light novels. I'd prefer a work based on the anime series, but if you want to include elements from those other works, that's cool too. I'm not familiar with any other Utena canons, but I'm fine with spoilers and so on so dropping in stuff from there is cool with me, so long as it doesn't require me to have read/watched/played/etc. the thing in order to understand it.

Introspective/character study. I would really love this focused on ANY character, but if you do need some specific characters, my current personal favorites are Juri, Saionji, Mikage, Miki, Nanami, Wakaba and the two mains, Anthy and Utena.
Soulmate AUs that really lean into the messy, coercive nature of universe-assigned soulmates (with the caveat that the main couple still needs to be each other's soulmates per the rule of that universe, per the DNWs)
Any focus significantly on the Black Rose arc or the Black Rose duelists, as that is my favorite arc of the series

One of my friends suggested a reading of Kozue as trans, especially based on the After the Revolution manga. I think that would be realllllly cool to explore in fanfiction, especially in how that influences her relationship with her brother.
I genuinely don't think that the Miki/Kozue is a case where they actually want to do incest with each other; I think those feelings are proxy for other stuff. If you'd like to explore what exactly those feelings mean and how they figure that out, and even if they make some mistakes about their attraction and feelings to each other and act on them along the way, be my guest. I would prefer it not be a case where Miki/Kozue incest is the endgame, but it as a stop along the way in their character journeys I find really interesting.

Canon is a sci-fi novel series by Becky Chambers, set in the same universe but largely stand-alone. The characters that I requested appear in the first book, A Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet.

This is my first time requesting this fandom for an exchange, but I really love the romantic relationship between Rosemary and Sissix! I would love stuff that delves deeper into that, including by incorporating worldbuilding involving Sissix's culture or other alien cultures. How does their relationship going forward from the first book fit in with Sissix's culture's norms about relationships? Where do they go from there?

If you go for smutty stuff (which I am A-OK with here), I love stuff that focuses on differences in alien biology from human biology, especially in exploring Sissix's reptilian body and all that entails.

I have read the first book. I haven't yet read the other books in the series, but I am planning to and I don't mind plot spoilers.

I love the exploration-focused sci-fi plots, so feel free to have the Wayfarer explore more strange new worlds with Rosemary, Sissix and their relationship as a central focus. I really love the worldbuilding in this series and would love fics that explore it further!

Canon is a 1980s sci-fi novel series and two anime series, one from the 1980s-90s and one from the 2010s. I would prefer if you focus on the first anime series, which is available in its entirety in Japanese with English subtitles on HIDIVE.

My interest in this fandom is in a deeper exploration of their character arcs and how the politics and worldbuilding shape who they are, their ideals and ways of looking at the world, and their relationships with each other. I especially love stuff that further explores the queer subtext of this series. I'm a big fan of ReinKir (Reinhard von Lohengramm/Siegfried Kircheis) and in making that relationship more textual, but I love exploring the queerness of these other characters as well.

I also like fix-its where Reinhard or Yang lives, and possibly where Yang goes on to play a role in Reinhard's future rule over the galaxy (especially interesting if you go for a Reinhard/Yang relationship).

You can go relatively canon-compliant in terms of the social mores of their world (and maybe explore them further than the show canon does?) OR you can do a world that is more accepting of same-sex marriage, even in specific circumstances (like a Reinhard/Yang alliance marriage after the war).

Canon is a manga from the 1970s by Ikeda Riyoko (of Rose of Versailles fame) and a 1990s anime adaptation directed by Dezaki Osamu. I would prefer a focus on the latter, which is available in its entirety in Japanese with English subtitles on RetroCrush.

The thing I'd really like for this fandom is to give these characters the sort of happy ending they didn't get in the original story - a version of the story where Nanako and Rei can be happily in love without Rei's death, or where Mariko and Kaoru have a real romance. Any sort of variation where it's a version of the story where the characters can be openly queer without being doomed to tragedy is great, but that's the one I'd most like to see!

Canon is a 5-season drama/crime TV show that aired on HBO in the United States 2002-2008. It is available in its entirety on Max in the U.S.

I always thought there was a lot of subtext between these two, or that there could potentially be something between them. I'm really interested in a fic that explores that possibility. Alternately, a fic that involves the two of them in a significant way that goes into one of Omar's other romantic/sexual relationships with men/his sexuality. I appreciated what the show gave us there and that that wasn't all there was to his character, but it would've been cool to see more.

I'm very familiar with Baltimore, so I also love stuff that uses the location to great effect if you are familiar enough with it for your writing to be convincing to a local.

I'll be honest, I meant to also request Kima Greggs and Jimmy McNulty, so I'd be fine with them appearing as background characters in this somehow. I also enjoy stuff focusing on any of the tagset characters as possible. Star Trek Holidays 2023: Letter

OPEN TO TREATS, including both fanfic and fanart treats! And just a note: I forgot to add the "open to treats" clarification on every one of my sign-ups, but I AM open to treats on ALL of them :)

So I won't rehash the DNWs in the sign-up, which also vary a little bit between the various prompts. Here's just a list of what I'm into more generally for each ship, and some prompts!

Garashir (Julian Bashir/Elim Garak):

Oh boy, my love for this ship, my OTP, could encompass a dissertation, so I'll just get right to it: With these two, I'm all about the romance, the way they're just so perfectly suited to each other more than they are with any other character, the inevitability of their connection (which is why the show had to fight so hard and eventually literally separate them NOT to make it happen) and above all else, romantic happy endings. I want them happy together at the end! But for how you get there.... well, there's a lot of possibilities.

On the note of "romantic happy endings," while I didn't explicitly DNW this, I would like the fic to not just end after their getting-together/first-kiss. I'm a big fan of letting them revel in the happiness of being together for a while. Smut is great for this, obviously, but I'm also a big fan of post-coital talking about feelings and just being so excited that they are returned, or flash-forwards to where they've been together for a while!

As I've said in other places, I'm a big fan of the fandom cliches: Only One Bed, fake relationships turned real, friends to lovers. With these two, I also love chances to explore how this is likely not the person they expected to fall in love with when they first came on to the station, or having been attracted initially but never expecting for their feelings to grow so deep.

I also love other people's reactions to them! Particularly if someone from Julian's earlier life reacting to his romance with a Cardassian. I think there's a great place to explore what normie civilians in the Federation think about Cardassians, or other Starfleet officers who aren't working with them regularly like they are on DS9.

Some prompts (modified from a previous exchange, since they weren't used in those and I'd still really love for someone to write these):

Julian has a jealousy-induced epiphany as a result of Garak's growing friendship with Ziyal.
Marriage to piss off Julian's parents that gets more serious over time as they open up more to their mutual feelings
Julian is trying to date other people but they notice that he keeps canceling dates to hang out with Garak. Perhaps a comment by one of them causes one or both of them to get their heads out of their asses and get together
Julian as Cardassian political spouse, as mentioned above, especially good if he's First Gentleman but even with Garak in a smaller role. I had this idea for a while of a Julian and Leeta reunion when Garak as head of the Cardassian Union is meeting with Grand Nagus Rom for whatever reason, either at Garashir's Cardassian residence or Rom and Leeta's on Ferenginar, with Julian and Leeta reflecting on how far each of them have come, and what it's like to adjust to an alien culture while also thrust into such an important, public role. Idk if I'm going to write that so feel free to take that idea if you like it, though make sure to include some Garashir loving as well :)
Marriage during the war as some means to protect one another -- for instance, to give Julian a next-of-kin/representative if he’s incapacitated/etc. who is not his parents, or to give Garak protection by/legitimacy with the Federation. And then of course, real feelings ensure from their "marriage of convenience" :) (or were already there, but they’re forced to acknowledge them now)
Flash-forward/vision (possibly via orb or something, or soulmate-AU-facilitated) of them being happily married years later, right after they meet each other
Similar idea but they've been friends for a while, and either one or both figure out that they actually really want that to happen, which leads to an eventual relationship
Soulmate AUs with them in general - again, so long as they are actually each other's soulmates per the rules of that universe
Garak has never really had fully consensual sex before - it's always been part of an OO mission - so being with Julian is his first version of that and he's not really prepared for it! (Yeah, as per my DNWs, I'm not a huge fan of the Garak/Palandine thing from beta canon)
On a similar vein, this is Garak's first time being truly in a Relationship and how he has to adjust around that
Dealing with differences in Federation vs. Cardassian norms about romantic relationships, marriage, sex, etc.
Dealing with alien biology
I looooove these two having kids together, and not enough stories have them be biological kids! So whether you involve Garak's weird alien biology allowing him to get pregnant or artificial wombs or something, would love to see that!
With the "Little Achievements" sign-up: how that version of Garashir initially got together!

Damar/Kira Nerys:

As discussed in the sign-up, I like these two having both messy sex and legit romance together, I think there's a lot of good potential for that - I'm with Nana Visitor that I think it could've been really interesting to give Kira a romance with a Cardassian, and Damar seems like by far the best out of the likely candidates, and he seems to fit the personality profile she's into in men - but I don't want it played the exact same way as something like Garashir. These two have a truly complicated history together, not the least because of Ziyal. I think that being in the resistance together brings them a lot closer, but would they be willing to acknowledge it if feelings have bloomed, and in what ways would they acknowledge it? How could circumstances push them closer together? That's the story I really love with them: where something they might have otherwise denied comes bursting forth, or where they're able to see the commonalities with someone they might have otherwise seen as an enemy as a demonstration of their respective character journeys.

As I said in the sign-up, my preference is for a Damar Lives AU situation but I also enjoy stuff that deals with his canonical character death, OR that is ambiguous (for instance, taking place during the Cardassian resistance in-canon when they're both alive).

Prompts (also somewhat recycled from a previous exchange):

I'm also a fan of flash-forward/orb experience situations with these two where they get to see that they're happily married or even just romantically-involved in any way before they're quite ready to accept that. I've seen some great stuff that does this in the vein of a soulmate AU, and I love that here, too.
They're both political leaders after the war and feelings blossom and they have to figure out what to do about this
They end up marrying as a symbolic gesture of friendship between Bajor and Cardassia, and feelings slowly grow out of it later
Impulsive marriage happened for whatever reasons when they were in the Cardassian resistance together. Maybe they hooked up and wanted to do it before they died; maybe they did it for reasons of damage control if one of them died (like the Garashir possibilities above). But Damar lives here, and now they have to navigate the fact that their marriage is still in effect after the war. There are feelings between them but shit’s complicated!
Banging it out in Mila's basement, with good comedy potential by taking a look at how Mila and/or Garak feel about this
If you can possibly make this work with the timeline, Dukat finding out that Kira and Damar are a Thing and his rage reaction would be HILARIOUS

Kirawinn (Kira Nerys/Winn Adami):

Ah, my toxic yuri rarepair. As I said in the sign-up, please make this as toxic and codependent as all-get-out, full of unwanted attraction, of it being tied to Kira's complicated feelings about her religion, etc. This is great either pre-canon or during canon, or potentially both: where a pre-canon affair lingers into canon and Kira is starting to realize what an awful person Vedek Winn is, but she can't quite give this up. Or alternately, focusing on Winn and her desperation to keep things going with Kira even as Kira increasingly turns away from her.... as even as late as season 7, she's still going to Kira for religious discussions. Either one of them taking advantage of the other, or them mutually doing so (but obviously still enjoying the orgasms) while thinking it's only one-sided manipulation... good shit.

Keep in mind that per my DNWs, I'm not a fan of Bajoran religion having any hang-ups about homosexuality, so please don't include those. But "religious guilt" in terms of Kira having weird feelings about female religious leaders that keep her coming back to Winn even though she knows she shouldn't? Winn having a savior complex? That's hot ;)

Also, please make this smutty if at all possible, see the sign-up for what I like in smut between two women!

Pre-canon affair while in the Bajoran Resistance, especially if it also deals with one or both of them looking back on it years later after their feelings have changed

Okay, I just find this ship really really funny. Dukat's weird horny obsession with Sisko and Sisko's dismay for it is hilarious. I can't see this as "romantic" in a two-sided way, so most of these prompts are about Dukat having one-sided feelings OR one impulsive hook-up and the fall-out of that.

Prompts:

Dukat writes love letters to Sisko, or writes out his fantasy for how he thinks that he and Sisko would get together which involves some degree of him "rescuing" him and bringing him back to Cardassia Prime (and everyone involved is extremely OOC), and the other people on DS9 find out about either of these things. (I may write this second prompt myself someday, but would love to see your take on it!)
Dukat's delusions over their actual interactions, such as imagining himself taking Sisko on little dates on Cardassia, being Jake's stepdad, etc.
Soulmate AU from hell (I wrote one of these)
Dukat encourages Jake/Ziyal to happen in order to get closer to Sisko
Jake and Ziyal are getting married and Wedding Planning from Hell where Dukat is all over Sisko
They hook up once - perhaps early on, before Sisko really knows what Dukat is like - and news gets out later and how other people react

Alright, on the off-chance you still haven't come up with an idea for it, I'm finally doing this! Thanks so much for your patience, my life has just eaten all my fic-related brainspace.

I won't rehash the DNWs, you saw that in the AO3 sign-up.

The main thing to know on top of what I wrote in the sign-up is that I am fine with the traditional romantic stuff for Ken/Stewy but prefer something messier for my other ships.

Some general things I like:

Fandom cliches: Only One Bed, fake dating turned real, friends to lovers (though here I'm only really into the straightforward romantic version of that with Ken/Stewy)
Sex pollen I can often take or leave, but I loooooove it with ships like this where I prefer things a bit messy and like the idea of characters giving into their worst instincts, the worst part of their id :) (and while I don't like full-on non-con, I'm fine with some dubcon)

Soulmate AUs. I got a great one of these in an exchange recently for Romangerri, so would prefer it for a different ship if you go that route, but if you have a great idea for that there go ahead. With these ships, please make them demented and weird and uncomfortable! (That said, as spelled out in DNWs, I don't like the "main characters aren't actually soulmates" variation, so don't do that.)
Some things I really like for smut fic: Oral sex, especially cunnilingus or rimming. Strap-ons. Motorboating, nipple play (no clamps though), boobs/chest focus. Leaving scars and other marks. Men getting pegged.

Ship-By-Ship:

Tomgreg: My OG Succession ship! I love anything that just plays into the insane amount of subtext and chemistry between them and it reaching a boiling point. Anything that plays into how deranged Tom is about Greg. While I can see Greg returning his attractions, I have a hard time buying stuff that's too traditionally romantic for them, so please make it awkward as all-get-out. A good way to put it as I see these two as "soulmates (derogatory)." Like, yeah, they belong together, but it's a mess because they're a mess.
Romangerri: This is probably my favorite Succ ship along with Kenstewy. I love me an older woman/younger man pairing and it's just such a bad, bad idea but the chemistry is off the charts and Gerri deserves to have that messy younger man if she wants, and I love how much Roman is into her. And yet it's such a terrible idea. And yet it's so irresistible to watch unfold!
Kenstewy: I came out of the final shipping this HARD. Stewy seems to be the one person who truly cares for Kendall, and there's such a great room for friends messing around to lovers here, for Kendall realizing that Stewy is who he belongs with over time. This is the one pairing where I'm into something more traditionally romantic. Give me those cute friends-to-lovers tropes or that classic slowburn, though I'm also game for something silier, more humorous with them.
Naomi/Ken/Stewy: This is mostly that I really like Kendall with both Stewy and also Naomi - I love the two black sheep of warring political media families making terrible decisions together. I tend to prefer this as V-shaped with Kendall in the middle, but if all three are involved together that's also fine.
Gerri/Shiv: A situation where Gerri wants someone a little smarter than and whom she feels "gets her" more than Roman, or perhaps that just starts as a way to mess with him and then they realize they're really into it?

Specific Prompts By Ship

Tom/Greg: soulmate AU (derogatory), they're fucking behind the scenes the whole time, how the relationship evolves post-canon, Greg feeling conflicted about what he feels for Tom, Tom having some unrealistic romantic fantasy in his head that we know Greg isn't into
Romangerri: The hookups we didn't see on screen, Roman reconciling with her post-canon, Roman catching real feelings (and not liking that) but feeling convinced Gerri doesn't feel the same. Pegging is a big smut like here!
Kenstewy: Messing around in college (kissing guys on molly) and catching feelings but not knowing what to do with them, Kendall cheating on other partners with Stewy and grappling with his feelings, Stewy pining away and only at the end of the fic realizing Kendall returns his feelings, and all the classic friends-to-lovers stuff like first kiss, first time, romantic slow burns. Really into post-canon scenarios here as well! Stewy deserves a BJ for sticking by his friend :)
Naomikenstewy: Smut's the main idea I have here. Things getting complicated if Naomi realizes that Kendall is more into Stewy than her

General Likes:

Kind of a gimme with a "first time" challenge, I suppose, but I'm a big fan anyway of stuff that focuses on relationship milestones: love confessions, getting-together, first kiss, obviously their first time having sex, first time sleeping over, telling friends, moving in together, marriage proposal and wedding, etc. (Does not necessarily have to be in that or any particular order.)

I like soulmate AUs a LOT so long as the characters still get some chance to develop feelings organically, whether or not they are already aware of their soulmate status. Stuff where they find out before they are in love and kind of fight it at first, but end up getting to know and falling for the person anyway — that stuff is great. Love it, can’t get enough, and I think this goes really well with "first time" as a prompt.

Alien or fantasy cultures that are very different from any modern/historical human Earth cultures, as opposed to analogues for some real-world country or time period. (The exception is if they're already obvious analogues; for instance, I'm totally down with making Fódlan or Westerosi culture even more like medieval/early modern Europe.) I really like how sci-fi and fantasy give us the potential to go truly wild with exploring the diversity in cultural values, art, lifestyles, social mores, etc. and I love when fanfiction opens my mind further there in how it plays with the parts of worldbuilding that canon forgot! And even in a smutty exchange like this, I think there's a lot of room to have fun with how concepts like "sex" and "virginity" might look different across cultures and species.
Some things I really like for smut fic: Oral sex, especially cunnilingus or rimming. Strap-ons. Motorboating, nipple play (no clamps though), boobs/chest focus. Marking including/especially scent-marking but also stuff like leaving scars.
With this challenge in particular, since "losing virginity" is a pretty nebulous concept, I'm fine with taking unusual approaches to it. First time with someone of a particular alien or fantasy species, first time doing a particular kind of sex, first time having sex with someone you love, etc. But I do love the emotions of it being significant that it's happening with this person, so please keep those in there!

I really really like Garashir, which is my OTP, and where I check the tag around daily for new fics. I don't usually tend to view either of them as true virgins, but I could see a version of things where Garak is one because he has been so focused on his life in the OO, and it would be fun to challenge Julian's idea of the spy life as full of glamorous honeypot sex. Alternately, I could see a situation where it's just a certain type of "virginity" for him: sex with Julian is Garak's first sex that is fully consensual (everything before having been a honeypot mission) or his first time with an alien, or at least with a human. I strongly prefer keeping things romantic and happy-ending-focused with Garashir (though some angst along the way is fine, so long as it’s resolved).

Fandom-Specific Likes:

Alien biology that is different from human biology (especially with regard to cum/genitals), including making them "more alien" than in canon. This includes mpreg that follows said alien biology, so long as it doesn’t violate the DNWs. (In the case of these ships, yes I’m all for Cardassian males being able to get pregnant. You don’t have to go into a detailed biological explanation about how, unless you want to, of course; I could certainly see it as in-character for someone like Bashir to do that….)
Alien cultural differences, especially in how they show affection, relationship and marital norms.
Characters adjusting to living on their partner's different planet.
Worldbuilding or political drama of alien cultures or future Earth, both in the macro and micro. History, religion or lack thereof, cultural stuff like music and art and literature, and especially, everyday life. Not so much that it is a distraction from the main relationship-focused plot, but I love little details that make these worlds feel lived-in. As per the "general likes" section, I prefer alien cultures being as "alien" as possible. I don't expect any of this to necessarily come up in a virginity-focused fic LOL, but just in case...
I love Garak and Bashir’s book club. Feel free to write stuff that has them discuss books. I am up for whatever you choose to have them discuss as long it makes sense for two lit nerds to still be talking about 350 years from now (like don’t have them discussing YA or Fifty Shades or w/e lol) but if you want some specific ideas: I especially enjoy it when people have them reading books from Africa, Asia, Latin America or Eastern Europe. And of course, go to town with whatever you invent for Cardassian or other alien literature. Literary allusions that connect to the overall story or its themes are also great!

Cardassia having a hierarchical socioeconomic class system, such as references to Garak being "service class," 2. Cardassia or Bajor having fundamentalist-Christian-style misogyny, hang-ups about abortion and birth control, etc. Please don't do either of those. Cardassia's science and medical fields are dominated by women! These alien cultures are oppressive but in different ways from Earth, and I find that a lot more interesting in sci-fi.)

I prefer happy endings with Ferdibert. I like stuff in the fandom that tends to delve deeper into the politics of the story, including how they run this world after they win (especially with the Crimson Flower route), but I get that's less likely to come up with prompts like these LOL. I think with these two, there's a lot of potential for either hatesex when they're earlier in their relationship that they're unexpectedly into/brings them closer, or for friends-to-lovers type of first-time sex if you set it post-timeskip. Lots of room for them to mess around without realizing how deep their feelings run. I love the idea of Ferdinand being surprised to find out that Hubert, with his imposing and worldly reputation, is less experienced in sex than he is - but I find that very plausible! I really like soulmate AUs with these two. I like the idea of a possibly arranged marriage (several different rationales you could go with), or with them losing their virginity to each other impulsively before going off to war, and there are so many interesting ways you can incorporate the worldbuilding and politics of Fódlan into this relationship!

My personal headcanons are that Hubert, Linhardt, Edelgard and Yuri are gay and everyone else is bi, but you don't have to stick to those if you'd prefer not to (and I'm generally not a huge fan of drawn-out musings on the particulars of someone's sexual identity anyway). Some ships I'm into in background include Dorothea/Edelgard, Caspar/Linhardt, Dorothea/Ingrid, Marianne/Hilda, Edelgard/F!Byleth, Dorothea/Petra, Dorothea/Manuela, Felix/Annie, Annie/Mercedes, Dimitri/Dedue, Yuri/M!Byleth, Dorothea/either Byleth, Dorothea/Mercedes, Mercedes/F!Byleth, Claude/M!Byleth, Caspar/Ashe, Constance/Hapi, Bernie/Raphael, Edelgard/Lysithea, any combo of Hilda/Leonie/Marianne... but honestly, there's not a lot for this fandom shipping-wise that I really dislike or anything.

With ReinKir, big into them as childhood friends in love messing around, "practicing" for hetero marriages, and realizing that oops we caught feelings what do we do now? With Reinhard/Yang, more into the arranged marriage (but love, or at least affection, ensues) and the more experienced one making things really nice for the less experienced one being a part of how that bond between them grows.
You can go relatively canon-compliant in terms of the social mores of their world OR you can do a world that is more accepting of same-sex marriage. I could easily see a situation where whatever laws there might be against it in the Empire are lifted to allow for a Reinhard/Yang alliance marriage. You can also do various points along that scale: for instance, a society where same-sex marriage is legal but socially, opposite-sex marriages are still favored... but perhaps the potential of the young heroes of both the Empire and Alliance getting together is just too good to pass up, trumping even the desire for biological heirs....

Fandom-Specific DNW:

Pretty open here, but while I enjoy some angstier takes on Rhaenicent, I'm more into those later in the continuity and I think that with a virginity exchange, we're likely looking at teen best-friends experimenting for the first time. (That said, if you can make a later one work within the prompts, be my guest!) I'm open to both canon-verse here, or an AU that is more accepting of same-sex relationships/less misogynistic where they can be openly together or where marriage is a possibility. It's up to you! I think there's a lot of great room in canon-verse for them to fool around in a way they don't take seriously until real feelings ensue, or they realize what they feel for each other is more powerful than what they feel about potential male suitors. In an AU where marriage is a possibility between them, it would be interesting if they don't really consider it until the possibility of marriage (and thus loss of virginity) with a man they don't like looms over them. These are just ideas -- I'm eager to see what you make of this!

Two caveats regarding DNWs and this fandom:
Re: "rape/non-con" DNW: I'm aware that Alicent is canonically in a pretty clearly non-consensual relationship with King Viserys, and I don't want that prettied up into something where she's more into him than she really is. So if you go canon-complaint, the thing I would ask is that you not focus on the rape. Keep your focus on whatever relationship she has with Rhaenyra instead, not all the sex she clearly doesn't want with her husband. Same goes for any other canonically non-consensual ships within that fictional universe.
Re: cheating DNW: I'm ok with infidelity that is forced on them by society (e.g. they're forced to marry men because of their social positions), but not emotional infidelity, not stuff that suggests that Alicent and/or Rhaenyra have stronger romantic/sexual feelings for other people than they do for each other.
